about

'Perfectly judged. Dave Malkin’s unassuming vocals add just the right measure of grit. Exquisite…'
- The Sunday Times

Black Hours is the meeting of some of the UK’s most exciting young musical minds, to realise the compositions of singer and guitarist, Dave Malkin. The result is an elevation of song form; a luxurious and innovative framing of the human voice. At times explosive and dynamic, and others contemplative and melancholic, Malkin’s inventions refract contemporary songwriting through prisms of British jazz and contemporary classical music. His melodies exude a discerning simplicity, while through their carefully-orchestrated accompaniments the band pay rich tribute to a broad spectrum of human emotion.
